Vivian “Carter” Haynes, 87, of Moberly passed away April 12, 2017 at Macon Health Care Center in Macon, MO. She was born on June 13, 1929 to Harold and Anna “Vanslow” Carter in Long Prairie. MN. In 1949 Vivian married Harold Haynes in Moberly Missouri.
Vivian worked for 40 years at Southwestern Bell. She loved her job and the people she worked with. She was a member of Jefferson Avenue United Methodist Church, the women’s bowling association and a member of the Telephone Pioneers, an organization of telephone employees who did charity work. Vivian was a lifelong member of the V.F.W. Women’s Auxiliary. She and Harold also enjoyed bowling together; they often competed in bowling tournaments and have many trophies to show for it. Her granddaughter recalled many happy memories of spending time with Vivian and Harold at Community Lanes in Moberly.
She is preceded in death by husband Harold Haynes; both parents; an infant son Leland Carter Haynes; two sisters and two brothers.
Surviving Vivian are her daughter Martha and husband Rod Wood of Bevier ; Granddaughter Sara Wood and great grandchildren Collin and Carter Forsythe all of Moberly.
A graveside service will be held on April 15, 2017 at Memorial Park Cemetery at 11:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Jefferson Avenue Methodist Church at 323 Jefferson Avenue, Moberly, Mo.
