Vongene Ann Maupin, 71, of Moberly, passed away April 14, 2021 at Moberly Regional Medical Center. She was born September 17, 1949 in Columbia, MO to Henry Lee Stone and Ruth Knipp Stone.
Vongene attended Sturgeon schools and graduated from Harrisburg High School. She was united in marriage to Harold Maupin at the Redtop Church in Hallsville in 1972 for forty-four years until his passing in 2016.
Vongene worked for Banquet Foods in the mid- seventies and Toastmaster through the eighties until the plant closed. She then decided to pursue her interest in a dog breeding business where she primarily raised Shelties. She also enjoyed puzzles, sewing, raising and caring for her dogs and flowers. Vongene had a habit of whistling random tunes. She had a ready and contagious laugh and was also somewhat of a prankster.
Those preceding her in death are her parents; husband, Harold and her sisters, Pat Nichols and Henrietta Foster.
She is survived by her children, Gina (Bobby) Copas of Moberly, Cheryl (Coder) Cable of Moberly and Cody (Crystal) Maupin of Moberly; fourteen grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; her brother, R.L. (Ruth) Stone of Monroe City (formerly of Harriburg), extended family and friends.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Saturday, May 1, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Pathway Memorial Funeral Home in Moberly. Condolences may be shared online at pathwaymemorial.com.
