William Calvert

William David “Shorty” Calvert (59) passed away at his home away from home in rural Moberly on Tuesday December 20, 2016 after succumbing to cancer. He was born in Columbia, MO on May 2, 1957 to John and Ellen Calvert. Shorty was a loving father, brother and trusted friend. He worked as a mechanic for most of his life and was a member of the Moberly Moose Lodge. Shorty loved hanging out with family and friends, playing pool, shooting darts, throwing horseshoes, watching Football and Nascar and drinking beer. He always lived life to the fullest. He touched many hearts and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his parents, John Calvert and Ellen Berrey; his stepfather Francis Lynn “Pete” Berrey; one sister, Wilma Lynne Gordon, as well as both maternal and paternal grandparents. Shorty is survived by one son, John Ray Calvert of Columbia; two step children; four step granddaughters; siblings, Danny (Dee) Calvert, Debbie (Laurence) Dixon, Buddy (Taco) Berrey, Michelle Wilkerson, Eddie (Jennifer) Berrey, Kem (Troy White) Goble, Junior Berrey, Shannon (Angie) Berrey as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. A memorial service celebrating Shorty’s life will be held on Friday, December 23, 2016 at 4:30 p.m. at Pathway Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service.
