William Jasper Newton Houston, 88, of Moberly, passed away August 29, 2011 at his home. William was born June 10, 1923 in College Mound, to William and Martha Ann (Creason) Houston. William served his ccountry in the Army during World War II and was a member of the Darby’s Rangers. He became foreman at the Singer Warehouse and later the custodian at West Park School before retiring. He attended King James Baptist Church. He was a member of the Moose, the Eagles, VFW, and the American Legion. He was very patriotic and loved his children and grandchildren. In 1946 he married Mary Kathryn Perkins, who was the mother to all the children, and in 1977 he married Mary Alberta Osbourne, both of his wives preceded him in death. He is survived by five sons Jimmy and Paula Houston of Centralia, Kenneth and Kathy Houston of Moberly, William and Deborah Houston of Columbia, Harry Gallup of Moberly and Jay Gallup of Ash; three daughters Joy and Steven Winkler of Huntsville, Esther Houston of Chillicothe and Violet Gallup of Moberly. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wives, one son Robert Houston, one daughter Nellie Ruth Stankphill and one sister Hazel Duggar. Services will be Thursday September 1, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at the Million-Taylor Funeral Home in Moberly. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Macon. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. memorials are suggested to DAV.
