William “Bill” Carol Perfater, 79, of Moberly, Missouri, passed away on November 26, 2020, at University Hospital, Columbia, Missouri. Bill was born November 30, 1940, to Joseph Benton and Orpha Mae (Bailey) Perfater in Fayette, Missouri. He was an avid train collector and enjoyed showing his train station creations to visitors. In his free time, he enjoyed completing puzzles, going to the theater for movies and a large bucket of popcorn, spending time at Rothwell Park or getting a slice of pie at the Brick. He was an active member of the Special Olympics for many years, participating in bowling and track and field events, and cheering on his many friends in activities. He was a member of Family Life Fellowship Church and looked forward to services each week. Bill was known as a hard worker at the Sheltered Workshop in both Macon and Moberly until his retirement. After retirement Bill was always quick and eager to help with any projects around his home. Among all things, Bill loved people. His family was incredibly important to him and he enjoyed going through family photos and looked forward to spending the holidays with them each year. Bill knew no stranger, and to those who knew him, he was an example of humility and unconditional love. He will be sorely missed by his family and caregivers and look forward to the day we meet again. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers: Alfred Lee and Thomas Benton Perfater. Survivors include his sister, Alma Mae Taylor of Liberty, Missouri; nieces: Carolyn Joan (Tom) Kenney of Liberty, Missouri, and Karen (Jerry) Stanley of Kansas City, Missouri; great-nieces and nephews: Chris (Lacie) Kenney and their four children, Jennifer (Curtis) Bundy and their two children, Jessica (Brian) Vogt, Sarah (Matt) Wehr and their two children, Jacob (Jade) Stanley, and Jason (Kirsten) Stanley; as well as other family, friends and caregivers. A graveside service will take place on Tuesday, December 1, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. at the Memorial Park Cemetery, Moberly, Missouri, under the direction of Million Taylor Funeral Homes. Memorial contributions may be made to the Special Olympics in Bill’s honor.
