Wilson “Sonny” McCormick Jr., 81, of Madison, MO passed away Wednesday, April 22nd, 2020 at home with his family.
Wilson was born April 9th, 1939 in Moberly, MO to Wilson Barnhart McCormick Sr. and Oleta Frances Avery.
He was a lifelong member of the Randolph County area. Wilson wed Beverly Apel at the 1st Baptist Church on November 15th, 1968. He was a member of the North Park Baptist Church in Moberly and recently attended Gateway to the High Country Cowboy Church in Clark. He was a machinist at Qualico for 32 years, retiring in 1996.
Wilson loved to stay busy. He enjoyed car shows. He rebuilt four cars, as well as two one person aircraft and numerous other things, including a rocket when he was younger. No project was ever too difficult for him and he loved a challenge. His children knew that no matter what toy they broke, their dad would be able to fix it. He was a great man, who will be greatly missed.
Wilson is preceded in death by his parents, Wilson Barnhart and Oleta McCormick and sister, Georgia Ann Riley.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly of Madison; his children, Jeff (Whitney) McCormick of Moberly and Cory McCormick of Moberly; grandchildren, Abby McCormick of Kirksville, Brad McCormick, Nathaneal McCormick, Trentin McCormick and Addison McCormick all of Moberly; great granddaughter, Janelle Burton of Kirksville; sister, Jeanette (Donald) Albright of Higbee; brother-in-law C.B. Riley; cousin, Waynetta Calicut who was like a sister to him; extended family and close friends.
Due to the restrictions caused by the COVID-9 pandemic, services for Wilson will be celebrated privately by his family. They would like to extend their gratitude to the community for their support at this time.
