Ronald Robert Halley, 82, of Moberly, MO passed away unexpectedly Sunday, July 19, 2020 at University Hospital in Columbia, MO.
Ron was born on November 23, 1937 in Macon, MO to Earl Halley and Frances Alene (Cupp) Halley.
He grew up in the Macon and Randolph County areas, after retiring he returned to Moberly and lived there over the past 30 years. In his youth, Ron was an Eagle Scout of the National Council of the Boy Scouts of America, the highest rank attainable. Ron graduated from Northeast Missouri State in Kirksville with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1964. He worked for the Norfolk & Western railroad in Moberly for 12 years. He then worked for Weyerhaeuser Forest Production in Oregon for four years. Ron started at Daubert Chemical Company in Chicago IL in 1978 as a Lab Director/Sales manager for the adhesive group. His expertise was in Technical Applications Support for Laminating Adhesives where he spent much of his time supervising new product launches while providing technical support as well as the development of production itself. During his tenure with Daubert, he lived in the Netherlands for two years. In 1990, Ron joined American Industrial Technology Inc in Batavia, IL. His energy and knowledge was incredible, and he was at home providing assistance and guidance on adhesive applications, plus coaching and mentoring his customers and colleagues. He officially retired in 2002. He attended the First Christian Church of Moberly, was a member of the Masonic York Rite Temple # 344, and was a member of the Ulysses Motorcycle Club of New Zealand whose motto is “Grow Old Disgracefully”.
Ron lived an amazing life and had a passion for traveling around the world. He often spent months at a time traveling on his motorcycle in the States, as well as Ireland, New Zealand and India. Later in life, Ron and Paula spent most summers traveling around the United States and Canada. His favorite place he visited often was the Metolius River in Oregon. Ron lived a life of great adventure and excitement. He will be greatly missed.
Ronald is preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Alene; his son, Greg Halley; his daughter, Melana Halley; and grandson, Dakota Halley.
Survivors include his life partner, Paula Lile; daughter, Dawn Christy (Steve) Martinelli of Heathrow, FL; grandchildren, Michael (Jody Walsh) Halley of Huntsville, MO, Kayla and Colby Martinelli of Heathrow, FL; five great grandchildren, step-children, Johnna (Michael Plunket) Jaccarino of Warrensburg, Justin (Rosanna) Georgetti of Lee's Summit, and Joe (April) Georgetti of Ashland, eight grandchildren on Paula’s side of the family, extended family and close friends.
Services celebrating Ronald Robert Halley’s life will be held Friday, July 31, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Pathway Memorial Funeral Home. The family will be hosting a luncheon immediately following the service at the James Youth Cabin in Rothwell Park in Moberly. All are invited and encouraged to attend for fellowship and food. Mind that parking on the main road is discouraged, please park in the provided areas.
