Obituary of Sylvia Sue Novotney
Sylvia “Sue” Novotney, 78, of Mexico, MO passed away, Sunday, December 27, 2020 at King’s Daughters Home in Mexico, MO.
Sue was born November 14, 1942 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Raymond and Sylvia (Benton) Anderson.
Sue grew up in a military family, moving around quite a bit. Her family moved to Gerald, Missouri where she spent most of her youth, and then to Moberly, MO, where Sue would spend the next 47 years before moving to Mexico three years ago to be closer to her daughter. She was a member of the St. Pius X Parish in Moberly, MO.
In 1963, Sue married Robert Novotney in New Haven, MO. They two spent 57 wonderful years together. She worked for many years at Forney’s Furniture in Moberly, MO until the establishment closed, then she went on to work for Macon Building and Loan until she retired. Once she had retired, Sue got to fulfill her dream of traveling the US with her husband in their RV. Their favorite destinations were Alaska and South Dakota.
In her free time, Sue loved to embroider and crochet. She had a real green thumb and could frequently be found in her garden tending to her fruits, veggies and flowers. She enjoyed reading and cooking, but above all else, she loved spending time with her family.
Sue is preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Sylvia; brother, Kenny Bailey; sister, Joyce Bailey; and grandson, Zachary Stiffarm.
Survivors include her husband, Robert; children, Rebecca (Les) Stansberry, Mike (Anna) Novotney, Vicki Brown, and Terry Witcher; grandchildren, Lauren Stiffarm, Rudy Brown, Erica Parker, Samantha Schneickert, Andrew Potucek, Nicholas Novotney and Angelina Novotney; several great grandchildren; brother, Rick Bailey; aunts, uncles, extended family and close friends.
