Obituary of Dorothy Neece - Haley

Dorothy Ann Neece-Haley, 82, of Moberly, passed away March 12, 2021.  Dorothy was born to Marshall Blackwell and Eileen Herron Blackwell in Moberly, MO on January 8, 1939.  She was a 1956 graduate of Moberly High School and later graduated from the Moberly Junior College’s LPN Nursing program in the mid-eighties.

 

Dorothy was a pretty lady and while still in High School she was asked to model for local department stores.  While studying for her LPN degree she worked at North Village.  After receiving her degree, she went to work for the Moberly Training Center, where she retired.

 

Dorothy and her first husband James (Jim) Neece also owned and operated the Victory Bar in downtown Moberly for several years.  After his passing she reconnected with an old school friend, Walter Haley, and they were later married on August 21, 2017, the date of the solar eclipse.   

 

Dorothy enjoyed quilting, crocheting, spending time with her family and loving her dog Boo. 

 

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Huntsville.

 

She was a strong woman of faith; who with her family by her side, was able to win her battle with cancer.Those preceding Dorothy in death are her parents and previous husband, Jim Neece.

 

She is survived by her husband, Walter Haley; her daughter, Leanna Grimshaw, Moberly; grandchildren, Robert Little and Heather (Charles) Rainey all of Moberly; 10 great-grandchildren; brothers, Donald (Goldie) Avery of Hallsville and Curt (Brande) Blackwell of Moberly; extended family and friends.

 

Services honoring Dorothy’s life will be held Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at 1 :00 p.m. at Pathway Memorial Funeral Home in Moberly.  Visitation will be from 11:00 until time of service.
